BIG Notifications is designed mainly for seniors and visually impaired users. It displays Android system notifications from all apps in a larger and more readable format.
What BIG Notifications does
After installation, the app runs automatically in the background. In the Android notification drawer at the top of the screen, it is available through a large item called “Enlarge notifications”.
Open and read a notification
When you tap “Enlarge notifications”, the BIG Notifications screen opens and shows all notifications currently displayed by your phone. Tap any notification to work with it. You will see a large preview of the notification. If you tap the preview, the app that created the notification opens, and you can continue there.
Use large quick-action buttons
If the original notification supports quick actions, BIG Notifications shows those actions as large buttons. For example, a WhatsApp message notification may offer a quick reply directly inside BIG Notifications. A music player notification may let you control playback, skip to the next track, or like a song. The available actions always depend on the app that created the notification. BIG Notifications does not add new actions; it enlarges the actions already available in Android system notifications.
Adjust the settings
Tap the gear icon in the upper right corner to open BIG Notifications settings. You can choose a light or dark theme and select a larger font size, which is useful for users with very poor eyesight. You can enable automatic display of new notifications. You can also turn on an option that wakes the phone screen and displays a large notification when a new notification arrives.
Display new notifications only for a limited time
If you want, you can set new incoming notifications to be displayed only for a limited number of seconds. After that, they disappear from the screen but remain available in the main BIG Notifications interface.
Temporarily stop notification interruptions
If you enable “Enable the temporary on-off switch in the notifications drawer”, a temporary on/off switch will appear next to “Enlarge notifications”. This is useful when you want to focus on using the phone and do not want new notifications to interrupt you.
Clear active notifications
The “Clear all” button removes all active notifications except persistent notifications.
Hide notifications from a particular app
If you want to hide notifications from a particular app and never show them again, open BIG Notifications settings and enable “Allow disabling notifications of a particular app”. After this option is enabled, open the detail of a notification. A new option, “Never show this”, will appear. If you choose it and confirm, notifications from this app will no longer be shown in BIG Notifications.
Re-enable blocked app notifications
If you change your mind, open BIG Notifications settings and choose “Re-enable notifications of blocked apps”. After you confirm, notifications from blocked apps will be shown again.
