On some Android devices, the SMS button on the BIG Launcher home screen might blink constantly, even when there are no unread SMS messages. This behavior is typically caused by a bug in the phone's firmware, not BIG Launcher itself. This guide provides steps to override this issue.
Please note that screens shown in the video may reflect an older version of Android or BIG Launcher. While the core steps remain, visual elements might differ slightly on newer devices.
Step 1: Enable Notification-Based Blinking
- From the BIG Launcher home screen, tap the three dots icon (menu button).
- Choose Preferences.
- Tap Screens’ options.
- Enable the option Blinking button when an app shows a notification.
- In the next screen, you will be prompted to grant Notification access for BIG Launcher. Tap Allow.
- Go back to the home screen.
Step 2: Reassign the SMS Button to BIG SMS for Seniors
- From the BIG Launcher home screen, tap the three dots icon again.
- Choose Set buttons.
- Tap the SMS button on the screen.
- From the options, choose App.
- Select BIG SMS for Seniors from the list of available applications.
- Return to the home screen.
Step 3: Execute an Advanced Admin Command
This final step involves entering a specific command within BIG Launcher to ensure the button acts normally.
- Enter the Apps list screen (usually by tapping the 'Apps' button on the home screen).
- Tap the Search box at the top.
- Carefully enter the following admin command exactly as shown: admin set screensEcosystemPrivileged false ok
- When prompted, choose Yes to confirm the command.
After completing these steps, the SMS button in BIG Launcher should now act normally, only blinking when there is an actual unread message.
