For better safety, BIG Launcher and BIG Phone can filter incoming and outgoing calls.

Open the call filtering settings

To configure call filtering, go to the BIG Launcher home screen, tap the three dots next to the clock, choose “Preferences”, and then choose “Phone”. On the next screen, find the “Incoming calls filter” section. To enable incoming call filtering, set the first option to “Yes”.

Block incoming numbers

In “Block numbers”, you can choose which incoming numbers should be blocked. You can block none, numbers that are not in contacts, numbers that are not marked with a star, or all numbers. In the “Blocklist”, you can add individual phone numbers that should be blocked. You can also add numbers from the call log.

Block potential spam calls

There is also an option to block potential spam calls according to the Android system database. If you enable it, you can choose what happens when such a call arrives: the app can only show a warning button, or it can reject the call automatically.

Allow automatic answering for trusted callers

Another option lets you define numbers from which calls should be answered automatically. This is useful especially together with the option that turns on the speaker for incoming calls. It allows a trusted person to call the senior and immediately start speaking, for example in an unexpected situation.

Filter outgoing calls

The same Preferences screen also contains settings for filtering outgoing calls. You can allow calls only to numbers saved in contacts, allow calls only to starred contacts, or block outgoing calls completely. There is also a blocklist for phone numbers that should not be called. You can also choose whether this blocking applies to emergency numbers.

Block calls started by other apps

Another option blocks outgoing calls that are started by other apps.

Choose what happens when a call is blocked

If call blocking is enabled, you can choose how the phone behaves when the user tries to make a blocked call. Either nothing happens, or the app shows a message explaining that the call was blocked.

Allow Android call permissions

When you enable these features, Android may ask you to allow BIG Launcher to become the default call redirection app so it can check outgoing calls. Android may also ask you to allow BIG Phone to become the default caller ID and spam app. After these permissions are granted, blocked calls will show the configured warning or will be blocked according to your settings.
